Ponte Vedra Beach, FL

TPC Sawgrass & Ponte Vedra

The island green in real life — THE PLAYERS' stage, open to anyone brave enough.

The place

The most famous single hole your crew will ever play sits six and a half hours from Birmingham. Pete Dye's Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass — home of THE PLAYERS Championship — is a public-access bucket-lister, and its island-green 17th will dominate the group chat for years regardless of how many balls go swimming. Dye's Valley next door makes a proper warm-up, the Sawgrass Marriott across the street packages the access, and Ponte Vedra Beach adds Atlantic sand, seafood and a classic beach-club scene. Jacksonville's restaurants are twenty minutes away.

Where you crash

The resort

Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa

The official resort across from TPC Sawgrass — the smoothest route to Stadium tee times, with pools, spa and a beach club shuttle.

◆ The private house

The Private House

A Ponte Vedra Beach house — walk to the sand, ten minutes to the Stadium's first tee, grill deck for the post-island-green debrief. Rentals run along Ponte Vedra Boulevard and the beaches corridor.

5-6 BR · sleeps 10-12 · ~$1,000–$3,000/nt

The 5-day plan

  1. 1

Drive east & scout the beast

AM Leave early — about 6.5 hours to Ponte Vedra.

PM Check in, walk the Stadium's 16-17-18 as spectators, dinner at the clubhouse or Jax Beach.

  2. 2

    Dye's Valley warm-up

AM Learn Dye's tricks on the Valley before the main event.

PM Beach afternoon; early night — tomorrow matters.

  3. 3

    The Stadium Course

AM The bucket-list round with caddies — cameras out on the 17th tee.

PM Long clubhouse lunch reliving every shot; celebration dinner in Jacksonville Beach.

  4. 4

    Ocean Course — the Cup

AM The team match at Ponte Vedra's classic Ocean Course (or a Stadium rematch for the bold).

PM Trophy over seafood at the beach club; cigars on the dunes walkover.

  5. 5

    Beach sunrise & home

AM Sunrise beach walk, breakfast, then the drive back — home by evening.

Why it wins

Every golfer alive knows the 17th at Sawgrass — and it is public. Hit the most famous tee shot in golf, add Dye's Valley and Ponte Vedra's beach-club polish, and the trip writes its own group chat highlights.

Booking notes

Stadium Course times are premium and book far ahead — a stay at the Sawgrass Marriott is the smoothest path, and a caddie makes the round. Expect a top-dollar green fee for the Stadium; budget it as the trip's centerpiece.
