Sea Pines Resort

Harbour Town's lighthouse finish — Tour golf, bikes under the oaks, drinks on the marina.

The place

Every April the PGA Tour plays the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links, Pete Dye's tight, clever masterpiece that finishes beneath Hilton Head's candy-striped lighthouse — and the rest of the year, that tee sheet belongs to resort guests. Sea Pines backs it up with two more strong courses, five miles of beach, and a canopy of live oaks laced with bike paths. Evenings run on rocking chairs, marina-front seafood and the Quarterdeck's sunset — a trip that feels like a Tour stop with the volume turned to vacation.

Where you crash

The resort

The Inn & Club at Harbour Town

The boutique flagship steps from the first tee — butler touches, and the marina and lighthouse a short stroll away.

◆ The private house

The Private House

A Sea Pines home under the live oaks — private pool, bikes in the garage, minutes by cart to Harbour Town and the beach club. The resort's own rental program keeps golf access attached.

The 5-day plan

  1. 1

    Drive to the island

AM Roll out mid-morning — about 6.5 hours to Hilton Head.

PM Settle in, bike the paths to the lighthouse, sunset drinks at the Quarterdeck.

  2. 2

    Atlantic Dunes

AM Open with Love's seaside rebuild.

PM Beach afternoon; shrimp and oysters on the marina.

  3. 3

    Heron Point

AM Dye's second act — keep it in the corridor.

PM Fishing charter or pool; steak dinner and cards at the house.

  4. 4

    Harbour Town — the Cup

AM The Heritage venue for the team match — the lighthouse 18th decides it.

PM Trophy dinner on the marina; cigars under the oaks.

  5. 5

    Sunrise nine & home

AM An early loop or a beach walk, then the drive back — home by evening.

Why it wins

The RBC Heritage's stage is a resort course you can actually play. Finish at the candy-striped lighthouse, then bike under the live oaks to dinner on the marina — Hilton Head's signature trip.

Booking notes

Harbour Town books well ahead — resort-stay packages get priority, and a caddie or forecaddie elevates the marquee round. April Heritage week is for spectating, not playing.
