Southampton, Bermuda

Bermuda

Pink sand and ocean carries — Tour-hosted golf two hours off the East Coast.

The place

Bermuda compresses a full international golf trip into a long weekend's reach. Port Royal — government-owned, Robert Trent Jones Sr.-designed and host to the PGA Tour's Bermuda stop — hangs its 16th hole off an oceanside cliff that alone justifies the flight. Mid Ocean Club, C.B. Macdonald's 1921 classic in Tucker's Town, is the white-glove chase, and Rosewood's Tucker's Point course rolls above Castle Harbour. Between rounds: pink-sand beaches, fish sandwiches, dark 'n' stormies, and an island small enough that nothing is more than a short taxi away.

The 5-day plan

  1. 1

    Breakfast flight, afternoon golf

    Tucker's Point

AM Rolling golf above Castle Harbour.

PM Pink-sand beach club afternoon; dinner overlooking the harbor.

  3. 3

Mid Ocean — if the letter landed

PM St. George's wander through the old town; rum tasting back at the cottage.

  4. 4

    Port Royal — the Cup

AM The Tour-hosting course for the team match — the 16th tee decides careers.

PM Trophy dinner on the water; a last night swim off the dock.

AM A final swim at Horseshoe Bay, then the short hop home — back on the East Coast by evening.

Why it wins

The fastest passport stamp in golf: barely two hours from the Eastern Seaboard, a PGA Tour-hosting public course with the game's prettiest ocean par-3s, and an island where the biggest logistics question is scooter or taxi.

Booking notes

Bermuda (BDA) is a two-hour-and-change nonstop from New York, Boston, Atlanta and DC — leave at breakfast, tee off after lunch. Visitors cannot rent cars on the island: crews move by taxi, minibus or rented electric two-seaters, and it all works. Port Royal books online like any public course — grab the marquee times early; Mid Ocean requires a member introduction, so put the concierge on it the day the trip is booked.
